The 17 best breakfast and brunch in Leavenworth (2024)

The 59er Diner in Leavenworth/Lake Wenatchee offers a delightful experience for visitors. The cabins are charming and well-maintained, providing a cozy retreat. The diner itself serves up delicious meals, with generous portions and friendly service. The atmosphere is nostalgic, adorned with memorabilia from the past, creating a fun and welcoming ambiance. Guests can enjoy classic American fare such as burgers, fries, shakes, and hearty breakfast options like veggie scramblers and Italian scramblers.

Gotta love a great burger, fries and shake! The burger was big and juicy (I should have split it with someone)! Fries were perfectly crispy and plentiful. Chocolate shake was huge and delicious. Atmosphere was really fun with lots of memorabilia from the past and the staff was friendly. Only down side was it was pretty cold in the restaurant but I suppose most people come in in full snow gear so temperature is probably set taking that into consideration. So bundle up if you go in the winter! 59r Diner will be our new Leavenworth tradition!

The restaurant was clean and the staff was welcoming. I ordered a coconut pineapple milkshake and it was fantastic. The shake was creamy and fruity. I generally don't order onion rings but this time I did. The onion rings were very good. The onion rings were covered in what tasted like a waffle batter. They were light and cooked to perfection. Overall I recommend this place and my wife and I plan on returning someday...

We had a good time at 59r. The restaurant was very nice. We only had appetizers and shakes, but it was really good, and the atmosphere was fun.The ski cabin was a place to lay down for the evening. The main bed was very hard but the other beds were fine.Over all a great place to relax after spending the day in the area.

This place is great. Would definitely recommend not eating two days before you arrive and having somewhere you can be horizontal afterwards as the food is incredible filling. The milkshakes and the mozzarella sticks are just delightful. Photo is of me happy after my meal.

Really good breakfast food. We tried the strawberry milkshake and that was really good as well. The staff is friendly and the vibe is chill. The decor is 1950s, and they have a section that showcases how many milkshakes they have sold over the years. No surprise that each year, they sell more than the previous. Coz they're really delicious and fresh! Highly recommend this place for a good hearty breakfast!

This place has a great vibe, lots of cool nostalgia on the walls. Curly fries were good, burger was decent, but the blackberry cobbler was actually a square piece of blackberry pie and was not good. Ketchup bottles were pretty sticky and kinda gross. If it weren't for the cool memorabilia and service this would be a 3-star place.

Stayed in the cabins for an extended weekend. Ate at the diner every single day, food was always spectacular. Staff always friendly and helpful, and even started remembering our order by the time we got there!Cabins were absolutely gorgeous. Perfect size for the two of us. We had a downpour if snow and the owners were out shoveling and plowing the roads and walk ways for us. 20 min drive to leavenworth. Perfect mix between a quiet get away but close enough to town. We will be making this a family tradition

Like most people, I learned about this place on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.Don't be deterred if there is a line when you arrive. They take orders quickly and give you a sign to keep at your table so they can find you.The decor is fantastic. Definitely gives you the diner vibe. The food is exactly what you would expect from a diner. Shakes are a definite must.Already looking forward to our next visit.

A must-have whenever you're in the area - it's worth a stop out of your way! Total 50s style retro diner with great food. Everything was locally sourced and the eggs come from the chickens in their own yard (who also like to come hang out at the outdoor tables)! The sausage and egg sandwich was delicious and great bang for your buck! Plus the shakes were super thick and delightful.

We used to come here with my dad as children and it was so nostalgic to be back again years later after the rebuild. The food was the same greasy spoon goodness I remembered. Our group enjoyed the onion rings in particular!I did subtract one star for the whipped cream. The milkshake itself was good, but the whip cream left an almost wax like film coating your mouth that was both off putting texture wise and taste wise.Overall, a nice stop while traversing Stevens Pass. The juke box and decor will transport you back in time. The staff are also very friendly!

Great food and delicious shakes. If you are looking for a blast to the past in a fun diner this is for you. You order at the counter and then find a seat to have your food delivered. They have seats inside and outside, weather permitting. This is probably noted as a burger, fries and shakes place. They have several other options for pulled pork, chicken and have spaghetti and veggie burgers too. You can’t leave without having a shake

Made to look like an old diner, you'd swear it's been here since the 50's after you try their classic food. Burgers are excellent, very juicy with no shortage of toppings. Fries are offered but the homemade chips are great. Milkshakes are famous. If that's not enough, the diner was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Frequently busy and for good reason- well worth the stop!

Almost passed by this place while driving through visiting from Texas. I’m not usually one to like cheese sticks but I had to try them for the novelty and they were 100% worth it. Never had better. The strawberry milkshake was unmatched as well. Staff is so kind! Will definitely be coming back here on my next visit.

The self given title of “world famous milk shakes” and “famous cheese sticks” are well earned. I have been on the quest for 3 things; the best burgers, fries, and milkshakes. I didn’t get the chance to try the fries or burgers, but oh my gosh their milkshakes are by far the best I’ve ever had. I’ve tried milkshakes from over 7 states and these are by far the best. And their cheese sticks are out of this world as well. The service is outstandingly quick. The theme is fun and super cool. And the food overall was excellent. I will recommend this place to everyone who likes top class diner food, shakes, and good vintage music!

The decor and location was great. But it’s more of a cafe. You order your food at the counter and find your own place to sit. Not a good place for large groups during busy hours. Mostly booths and small tables. Employees were very helpful and nice. Food wasn’t the greatest. All five of us didn’t love what we got but their shakes were delicious. If we ever come back it will just be for a shake.

Excellent, excellent, breakfast! Wow! Just when you think there isn't anything new you can make for breakfast, we stopped here and had one that just might've been the best we had in WA! A Veggie Scrambler LOADED with veggies and cheese and an Italian scrambler both disappeared VERY fast on our tables! And the potatoes were really tasty and not bland like most places. But the thing that made our hearts happy was the 50s atmosphere! A magic 8 ball on the table and an Etch- a sketch? Ha! The best! The decorations were awesome! Three stooges on TV, and tons of things to enjoy everywhere you looked. Oh, and don't forget, even if you're full, grab one of the super delicious, incredible milkshakes to go! That's what we did! Coconut and Chocolate! This place is definitely a WOW restaurant worth stopping by!

Google is asking me to review this as a hotel, but I'm reviewing the restaurant. We've driven by this place so many times and finally decided to try it. What a delight! They don't have a big menu, but plenty from which to choose. The place is filled with nostalgia, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a nice conversation with 2 different families who came in, so it's also very friendly. The staff was great and the food was good and not expensive for what you get.

Food is good and has a nice nostalgic feel to it. Lots of cool photos of movie stars and early rock n rollers. Brought back a lot of old memories from my teenage years in the 60's. Fun place to grab some food.

Definitely a time-capsule located on Route 2. Juicy cheeseburger and fresh onion rings. I loved the dine-in experience was very 1959’! This diner had awesome collages displayed inside the bathroom and diner walls. Super Neat! Flo & Joe team were incredible and attentive. Felt very comfortable and relaxing here.

We went twice during our vacation. The dinner was clean and the staff was friendly. We had dinner one evening and the food was good enough for a quick bite. Tried the strawberry shake. It was good but not great. We went back for breakfast on our final vacation day. Food was ok but that was about it. Proportions were skimpy, the coffee was bitter and the food was bland. Maybe it was an off morning but our overall experience makes it unlikely we’ll stop there again the next time we’re in the area.

I was very disappointed in my experience. It is such a cute place and parts of the menu were really good (the curly fries and the chocolate shake), but the service was awful. The wait staff got our orders wrong. The food was delivered cold, and when we told them the food was cold, they got an attitude with us. We paid over $20 per person, and the food was wrong and cold! The shake was really good and I wanted to order another one to go, but by the end I was so irritated with them that I just left.

The decor was really cool, loved the old jukebox. Service was okay, you had to order at the counter. Order was wrong when it arrived to the table, but they fixed it pretty quickly. Someone was celebrating a birthday there and the manager went out of his way to make sure they felt special, and I thought that was really nice.

A lovely themed diner with a good array of breakfast and lunch foods. I really enjoyed the pancakes with their coffee, but our group also liked the biscuits and gravy. The shakes are great if you'd like one to share!

Sara A — Google review

Food was good but not overly great. The shakes are good probably the best thing of our meal. Biggest issue was the pricing, food is way over priced. Two patty melts with fries a shake and a lemonade. Plus a kids 2 piece chicken strip with fruit cost $62. Portions are not that big at all. If they provided bigger portions or lowered their prices it would be more worth it. But like I said food wasn’t terrible just be ready to spend some money.

This place is definitely worth the visit. I love a good classic diner and this one is easily one of the best I’ve ever visited. The staff were all super kind, our orders were made and delivered quick enough, and their milkshakes are just as good as advertised.

Rex Jones — Google review

The food was pretty good! Milkshakes were great! There were extremely short staff and it made everything seem disorganized. But they still managed to get by! They also don’t have a lot of seating so plan accordingly. The prices on the food is a bit high. But all and all pretty good place to stop and eat.

We were traveling through Washington and went an hour out of our way to try this diner. The atmosphere was very cool. There was so much to look at, and the jukebox was cool. They are known for milkshakes, they did not disappoint. We also had the mozzarella sticks. They were good. I had the meatloaf with gravy and onion ringsAnd it was very yummy. Huge portions. My beau had the cheese burger, and he felt it was just ok.

What a neat place! The restaurant has a fun 50s theme inside and outside. It is packed with cool vintage things to look at and they play 50s music to help add to the experience.Their menu has breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. Food is pretty good.If you are planning on passing by this place when you are on Hwy 2 I recommend you stop and have a bite.

The diner was a classic restaurant in the 1990's to 2000's. Then it burnt down and they built it back even better than before! Great milkshakes and fries, and very friendly and genuine service! Glad something from my childhood is still going strong!p.s. they made over 11,000 milkshakes in July of 2023 which is 366 PER DAY! Averaged over their typical 12 hour opening time that is one shake every 2 minutes! They hire 10 employees just to make shakes in the summer! That's some dedication worth visiting 😁

The staff that work there make it even more enjoyable than the nostalgia. There was a mother and daughter who work there they were really nice. But Let's talk about the food! I am so proud to have gone somewhere where Guy Fieri had visited because he's one of my favorite cook show hosts! that was part of my bucket list and let's just say he knows his food because everything we ate was delicious. This is definitely comfort food!

Fun interior but food is some of the worst I've ever had. The pulled pork sandwich was incredibly tough and dry, shocking that it cost $11.99 for something I would not pay more than $6 for. The homemade cheese sticks tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp, very disappointing.

Took a mini vacation to Index and stopped here on the way home for breakfast. Hands down, the best breakfast we had the entire trip! The food was delicious, the service was great, and old diner feel was a nice change from typical restaurants.

This is such an iconic stop when traveling through the Cascades. Fun dinner food, great milkshakes, salads for when your not feeling the burgers or other options. The staff was delightful and they are soo dog friendly, they include a walk-up window and outside seating, water bowls under a hose avaliable at all times for our furry companions, They even include a plain burger option on menu, and have pup cups as well.
